Seattle Channel staff recognized with 13 Northwest Emmy nominations

Seattle Channel is honored to receive 13 Northwest Regional Emmy Award nominations from the Northwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). Announced via social media on Friday, the nominations highlight the quality and breadth of programming produced by Seattle Channel in 2022.

The municipal TV station received nominations in a broad range of program categories including business/consumer, health/medical, arts/entertainment, historical/cultural, diversity equity inclusion, human interest, and informational/instructional. Staff were also recognized in craft categories, including Chris Barnes for Editor in short-form content and Pete Cassam for Video Essayist.

“At its core, Seattle Channel is about engaging community and providing Seattle-area residents with information that helps enrich and inform our lives. These nominations reflect this work, and I could not be prouder of this team who is so skillfully dedicated to their craft and pour their efforts into service of our City. Congratulations to the Seattle Channel team for these acknowledgements and thank you to our peers in broadcast media for awarding our work with these nominations.”

The Northwest Regional Emmy Awards will be announced on June 3. The NATAS region includes five states: Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. A complete listing of the nominees can be found on the NATAS website

Seattle Channel’s outstanding community partner, Fidget Films, was also recognized for work that aired on the channel in 2022. The film and documentary producers John Forsen and David Fulton received a nomination in the Diversity Equity Inclusion – Long Form Content category for a documentary titled “Executive Order 9066.”
