Sports and politics have proven popular topics at Civic Cocktail, so it’s no surprise the last program of the year has already sold out. Host Joni Balter will talk with Daniel James Brown, author of a best-selling book about the University of Washington crew team that won a gold medal in the 1936 Olympics, and Seattle Mayor-elect Jenny Durkan, who takes office Nov. 28.
We will live stream the conversation on our website and Facebook,
6 p.m., Wednesday,
Nov. 29 at Palace Ballroom, 2100 Fifth Ave. Limited tickets will be available at the door, which opens at 5:30 p.m. You can also join the wait list.
Brown, a local author, will discuss his upcoming book and the possibility of bringing “The Boys In The Boat” movie to Washington state. Then, on her first full day in office, Durkan will discuss becoming Seattle’s first woman mayor in 91 years, her vision for Seattle’s future and much more.
Journalists Natalie Brand, of KING 5, and Amy Radil, of KUOW, will join the conversation.
Civic Cocktail will premiere on Seattle Channel (cable 21), 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 30 , and will also be available online.
Civic Cocktail — presented by Seattle Channel and Seattle CityClub— offers a night of networking, civic conversation, Tom Douglas appetizers and a no-host bar. Thanks to media sponsors KUOW and Crosscut.
