Sports and politics at June Civic Cocktail

Cap off an exciting season of Civic Cocktail as host Joni Balter leads a discussion on Sodo arena plans followed by a journalist roundtable weighing in on the headlines, 6 p.m., Wednesday, June 7 at Palace Ballroom, 2100 Fifth Ave.

When it comes to building an arena that will attract an NBA and/or an NHL team to Seattle, what are the best options? Entrepreneur Chris Hansen and his investment group will discuss the challenges, opportunities and politics of bringing professional sports teams to Seattle. The Hansen-led group is proposing to build a new arena in the Sodo District. KING 5’s Chris Daniels and The Seattle Times’ Nicole Brodeur will weigh in with questions.

Then, regional journalists offer their takes on Seattle’s mayoral race, the Trump administration, immigration, regional growth and much more. The panel will include KTTH radio host Michael Medved, Q13 political analyst C.R. Douglas and Seattle Times columnist Brodeur.

Tickets are $20 to $25. Register via Seattle City Club. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the program is at 6 p.m. Civic Cocktail will premiere on Seattle Channel (cable 21), 8 p.m., Thursday, June 8, and will also be available online.
