Books and politics at Civic Cocktail, Feb. 3

Civic Cocktail kicks off its 2016 season with Book Lust host Nancy Pearl and women of the Seattle City Council. Join us at 5:30 p.m., Wed., Feb. 3 at the Palace Ballroom, 2100 Fifth Ave., to talk books, the changing role of women in politics and more.

Host Joni Balter will talk with four members of the majority-female Seattle City Council, the first since the 1990s. Councilmembers Sally Bagshaw, and the newly elected Lorena GonzálezLisa Herbold and Debora Juarez will discuss city issues including growth, equity and what’s on their agendas this year.

A panel of journalists will also join the discussion: Paul Constant, Seattle Review of Books; David Kroman, Crosscut; Amy Radil, KUOW; and Steve Scher, Northwest Cable News.
