Mayor asked: Can tunnel be stopped?
While Mayor Greg Nickels says he is confident that a bored tunnel will replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct, he acknowledges that , “A person who wanted to kill it and was dedicated to just that probably could do it.”

More sidewalks will reduce pedestrian crashes, says Councilmember

Councilmembers agree: Stopping the tunnel will be tough
On City Inside/Out: Council Edition, three Seattle City Councilmembers discuss whether replacing the Alaskan Way Viaduct with a 1.7 mile, $1.9 billion deep-bore tunnel is a done deal. “It’s not just a deal.
